Hello, my name is Dr. Maya Stefanova Dimova, and I am an ophthalmologist with more than 21 years of clinical experience.
I have had the opportunity to work in some of Sofia's leading eye clinics. My specialist training began in 2002 at St. Anna University Hospital under the supervision of Academician Petya Vasileva. I then continued my training and practice at the Military Medical Academy (MMA), where I worked until 2007.
My professional career later took me to Tsaritsa Yoanna – ISUL University Hospital and the Crystal Medical Center and Eye Clinic.
From 2015 until the beginning of 2023, I was part of the team at Academician Pashev Specialized Eye Hospital (SOBAL), once again working under the leadership of Academician Petya Vasileva.
I have also practiced at Dimed Medical Center in Plovdiv and the Center for Health Prevention Medical Center in Sofia.
I currently work at an ophthalmology practice at Hubcha Medical Center, located in the Krasno Selo district of Sofia.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive clinical experience, developed the confidence to manage a wide range of eye conditions, and found great professional satisfaction in helping my patients achieve the best possible vision and eye health.
In recent years, my primary professional focus has been myopia control and orthokeratology—an increasingly important field as myopia continues to affect a growing proportion of the population, particularly children.
With the goal of raising awareness about effective methods for controlling and slowing the progression of myopia, I created the website myopia.bg.
